Once on a hunting trip, the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas stayed overnight in a place where Vilnius now stands. While he was asleep, he saw an iron wolf howling at the top of the mountain. In the morning, the Grand Duke’s pagan priest Lizdeika, explained the dream, saying that the city will rise in this place, and the fame about it will spread far and wide. Gediminas sent letters to various European cities and invited craftsmen and merchant to come to Lithuania and build it together. 700 years ago, Jewish craftsmen and merchants came to our country after hearing this invitation from the Grand Duke of Lithuania.
